Program Description:
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded US Department of Education program. The basic objectives of the program are to promote equal access to education and educational excellence through partnerships with colleges and universities, organizations, and the community.  Our goal centers on the need to create both systemic and sustainable school improvements that leads to increase college preparedness and participation rates for low-income and under-represented students and to educate their parients and guardians about the college process.

Job Description:
SFSU GEAR UP is seeking tutors who will utilize innovative and creative methods to help students with their course work assignmetns and increase their skill level in a particular subject. The tutors will be responsible for providing high school students with support and assistance in-class, during lunch, and after school in the following academic subjects:

  • Math
  • English
  • Science

Preferred second language skills: Chinese and Spanish

Salary:
$12/hour
