Acorn Woodland Elementary School (AWE) is seeking a K-5 Science/Language Arts Teacher who uses FOSS kits, Harcourt Science and other standards-appropriate resources to inspire students’ curiosity about scientific content and inquiry.

About Acorn Woodland Elementary
Acorn Woodland Elementary (AWE) is a small school in East Oakland serving 240 students in grades K-5.  AWE was founded in 2000 through a community campaign for equitable schools in conjunction with ACORN community organization and continues to foster both strong community and family partnerships.  Our site was newly constructed in 2006 and includes state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor learning areas; a shared public library is under construction and due to open summer 2010.

Our school program is rooted in the belief that all children can succeed at high levels with appropriate support.  As educators, we are results driven.  Our API has grown from 384 in 2000 to 782 in 2009.  We are a community of deeply committed educators who strive to provide excellent educational experiences to students as well as to use the principles of equity and collaboration to guide our work.
