Partner Projects

These are some education projects that CSME does not directly run, but which we enthusiastically support. Our support takes the form of collaboration with the project leaders, direct funding and even physically housing project staff.

• Science Education Partnership and Assessment Laboratory (SEPAL). Kimberly Tanner's research laboratory investigating how science is learned, offers both undergraduate and graduate courses, and provides multiple opportunities for SFSU students and scientists to collaborate with K-college educators
• Creating Momentum through Communicating Mathematics (CM)^2. NSF GK-12 project, enriching the mathematical experiences of the Graduate Fellows, as well as teachers and students from four San Francisco public schools.
• REvitalizing ALgebra (REAL). NSF Math Science Partnership between SFSU and five local school districts focusing on the teaching of algebra.
• Partners as Resources to Improve Mathematics Education (PRIME). California Math Science Partnership between SFSU and SF Unified School District.
• Reaching Out to Communities and Kids with Science in San Francisco (SF-ROCKS). Connecting urban youth with science through hands-on investigations with SFSU faculty and curriculum development for the 9th grade science classroom.
• SF Math Circles. An integrated weekly program for teachers and students in 6-12 grade, centering around intriguing and challenging problems. In partnership with Mathematical Sciences Research Institute.
• San Francisco Teachers Institute (based on Yale National Initiative). An intensive and sustained collaboration among SFSU faculty members and public school teachers.
